This boook is unbelievable. Paul Sheldon is the popular writer of the 'Misery' novels. He hates the fact that he feels that his most popular works (the 'Misery' novels) are holding him back from writing books that are more to his 'heart' and the fact that he is also stuck to the genre of writing Romance novels. His latest 'Misery' novel is intended to be his final within the 'Misery' franchise. He's killed off the main character 'Misery Chastain', and felt a sense of joy in being able to put these 'Misery' novels to an end. But, there's one thing that stands in his way - ANNIE WILKES (his number one fan). Paul Sheldon has been staying at a resort in Colorado, to write his latest novel 'Fast Cars'. The final 'Misery' novel is due to be released, and on his way back home to New York he decides to celebrate. He picks up a bottle of Champagne and decides to have a party whilst driving home. Unfortunately though, Paul Sheldon gets caught in a snow blizzard, and (this mixed with the fact he is drunk behind the wheel) it causes him to crash of the road. Unconscious in his car and near-death, Paul Sheldon is rescued by his No.1 fan (Annie Wilkes). Everything is fine until Annie (who is a fanatic of Paul Sheldon's 'Misery' franchise) buys Paul Sheldon's newly-released 'Misery' book, and discovers that the titular character 'Misery Chastain' is dead (thus bringing an end to the 'Misery' franchise). She then forces Paul to write a new 'Misery' book entitled 'Misery's Return'. This book is unbelievable in the way it has been written by Stephen King. I loved this book, and I couldn't put it down. It is an immense psychological-horror, and the deranged character of Annie Wilkes is unbelievably interesting. This book is full of detail and surprises, and I won't spoil any of the surprises for you. I'm glad I bought this book, and I am greatly pleased that I did. This is probably one of (if not thee) best book that I have ever read. Buy this book. I promise you, you will not be disappointed!.Read full review
Unusually this is a book I read after watching the great film with Kathy Bates. It is more intense and profound. It is also written as a captured author would see things. Excellent story and not for the squeamish. Enjoy!
