John Travolta is outstanding in this true story of waste product which pollutes the environment. Makes you realise how these things can happen and the culprits get away with so much destruction.

Having converted most of my old video collection to DVD I was thrilled to find this film gem in digital format. If you watch this in widescreen format, it really does the battle scene great justice; coupled with surround sound, you'll be gripped by the amazing cinematography. I would recommend the director's cut that includes scenes about the relationship between the lead character and his estranged wife and helps you to understand the motivation behind his decision. The run time is 183 minutes for the directors cut and 120 minutes for the cinema version. I was, however, disappointed by the lack of extras, which any fan of this classic would expect to be included. There's only a 20-minute interview with the director and other shot "making-of" vignettes.
This story surrounds large industry and how it can affect a community. It is especially pertinent in this difficult times. It is always so often the case that small business be it in the legal profession or every other walk of life experience similiar injustices. The film in my mind is a classic and probably one that Travolta and Duvall will be remembered for as one of thier greats. It shows the young legal executive (travolta) driven by success and enthusiasm crusading a cause and having to fight his rival, a willey old fox (duvall) and master of the craft in law, who knows when and how to dash a case and sadly ones career. A film to watch for anyone in business, or who have seen and battled with the law first hand. Review Written by Alastair Agutter 07/11/2009
A brilliant film. Buy all of Travolta's dvds and must say what an incredible actor he is. This is a true story about ordinary people but JT brings his magic. Must be those beautiful blue eyes! All actors play great parts but JT has it.
