This is a sharply observed and touching film adapted from Evelyn Waugh's Novel exploring the caustic experiences of those social climbers clinging to the superficial hedonistic decandancy of the British aristocracy in the 1930's. There is a marvellous unexpected sting in the tail to this story which is horrible and prophetic. Imerge yourself into this lost world of elite pleasures and tragedies and be glad it's only a film and you can return to modern mundanity. Recommend for watching on a Sunday afternoon on a comfy sofa with a drink or two.
I bought the DVD because I like period drama. The film was ok but the quality of the picture and sound was not good.
