First saw the film at the pictures with my late wife,Brings back many memories--I see a lot of Alan bates in myself both on and off screen,Many couples have been through this lifestyle with many good and many bad times but have pulled through it which have made them a lot better people for it.Unlike a lot of modern films in this one you can relate your own life--thinks we have all gone through it,
Really quick response. Good film too

Watching this dvd brought back so many memories about the time when my husband and I went to watch it at the cinema. We had two young children and were struggling to pay the mortgage on our first home. To go to the pictures, as it was called then, was such a treat. The babysitter charged seven and sixpence (37and a half pence) a fortune in those days for a struggling family. Our mortgage was £20 a month, and as my husband only earned £18 a week we had to save for treats like the pictures. Even though the film was made in black and white it does not take away the enjoyment. I thoroughly enjoyed watching it, and for an hour and three quarters, I was once again living in the early 60s, where I have such happy memories. Greatly recommended!
i like 1950s and 1960s films. especially kitchen sink drama. thats the period i remember growing up in.
