I have just started reading this author and this book like all the rest has not disappointed.I love murder mysteries and these books are written in a way that allows for two similar mysteries to be recounted at the same time one in the past and one present day. The stories are easy to read and follow and you don't spend any time re-reading previous chapters just to follow the plot. The characters are interesting human and believable, and you get to know them and follow them from book to book without feeling that they are some unbelievable soap opera. Each story is well writen in it's own right and can be read out of sequence without ruining enjoyment of other books in the series. The buying experience was good with the book arriving within 48 hours well packaged and in a good clean condition. Due to the current price of books at the local book shops by using e-bay I was able to buy several books in this series for the price I would normally have had to pay for one, and without the trouble of searching many bookshops within my area for missing titals. For those who like a light entertaining read I would recomend this purchase.Read full review
I'm making my way through all Kate Ellis books and haven't found a bad one yet. Sometimes the reveal is a bit of a let down but the read is always excellent. I like books that link up and it's good to keep the same characters going from book to book. I find the read is as much about the continuing story of the permanent characters, as it is about the plot of each individual book. I enjoyed this tale of the Painted Doom and learned some interesting facts about the 15th century.
