Audrey Tautou is an Incredible actress and her performance is no exception in this film. It is by the same director who directed Amelie (Jean-Pierre Jeunet) and contains similar humour, but with a darker tone. The film is set during WWI and the years floowing afterwards. It tells the story of a young woman Mathilde's (Audrey Tautou) who's fiancée Manech, (Gaspard Ulliel) fails to return from war but she doesn't give up on him. Mathilde continues searching for Manech relentlessly but will she be able to find him? A fantastic film. Look out for other films starring Audrey Tautou (especially Amelie if you haven't seen it) and Gaspard Ulliel will not dissapoint the ladies *wink*
This is a really good film, it is set in and after WW1 yet everything seems completly authentic. I have seen Amelie and wanted to see Audrey Tautou in another film. The only downside is that the film is not in English, so I had to read the English subtitles, however I soon forgot that I was reading them. The film is an epic .
Full of action and romance. Allthough the film was made in Fench, you have the option to have sub-titles in English, which I must admit Put me off but after a while I didn't mind as the French talk added more to the film.
I think this is a film that is superb, everything is superb even in subtitle form I loved every second of it this and the Italian film A Beautiful Life are my current best films watch and weep but no way a chick flick for intelligent people only retards this has too many words for you
