I am somewhat of a novice in the upgrading department, and I was a little apprehensive to purchase something I was afraid would burn my computer up, but I took the chance and ordered this processor. I know I'm dealing with older technology here, but going from a single core (2Ghz) processor to a dual core (2.7Ghz) processor, provided my system(s) a nice boost. Everything runs smoother. The processor(s) usually run at 2712-2713Ghz, but once (I don't know why) the computer was running at 3Ghz. I have ordered this processor two times as I have two identical machines that I have upgraded. One computer has 2Gb of memory and the other has 4Gb of memory. The machine with the 4Gb of memory runs a little hotter (50c to 60c during the day when the ambient temp is higher, vs 40c to 50c at night) but I guess that is to be expected. The machine with 2Gb of memory runs day/night between 40c to 50c. I can't afford, nor do I really "need" a more powerful computer at the moment and for the price, this worked perfectly. THANK YOU !!!Read full review

This is a very good era of AMD cpus, still easy to find motherboards for AM2 type, high end stuff, but because it's now getting older, it's a great deal. The AM2 does everything you need a cpu to do for almost any application except the heaviest duty stuff, which 99% of people never do, excluding gaming of course. From now on I'm always going to buy my ram/cpus this way, the cost savings is easily worth it. Note: always avoid bent pins etc, they are hard to bend back. I've never had a cpu fail, any, ever, so I feel quite confident buying them used. And at these prices, it's hardly a gamble.

Well, I am already a fan of AMD. That's why I was using the 4200+ for 2 years now. It was time for a little change. So, I got this 5200+ with the latest stepping and 65nm istead of the 90nm of my old cpu. Apart from the difference on windows 7 cpu score (before it was 4,9 and now it's 5,8), I now have much better graphics and more fps. Plus it is running smooth. No issues until now. I was playing a game in low quality graphics. Medium it is now and I think I'll try full as well. The 4200+ had some lack of power there. This one is much more powerfull. If you're planning to spend a few dollars on your pc and you think that your cpu is slow... these dollars worth it.
I've bought several desktop P.C.s in the past but this new DELL is absolutely incredible!!! It's easy to set up and the performance is right on, I love it!

this is the most powerful 65 watt am2 processor out there. if your mobo limits it to 65 watts get this. even boards that say they only support the 4800+ will support this processor and i got mine for 6 bucks. its worth it. can do skyrim at good framerates.
