Hell hath no fury like a Athlon XP! Perfect Processor for modern triple A titles!

eBay is my first choice for a wide variety of used PC components. Even though I run my own business, it is still financially sensible to do this, rather than find some trade dealer. I don't need to hang on to everything that comes my way, and find somewhere to keep them all, because there's always something on eBay. Furthermore, most sellers post within a day or 2, and postage is far less than any trade courier would charge. I even sell used computer parts while they still hold their current value, rather than keeping them "just in case". Best advice I can give to anyone doing this however, is make sure you're buying exactly the right part. There's so many variables in computer parts. This CPU for instance, I chose, to give an ageing computer it's final upgrade. It would only take certain varieties of this processor, (specific core type and FSB speed), but it made it much faster, breathed some life into it, and made it useful for my customer for a year or 2 more, before they have to replace the entire system.Read full review
Fantactic upgrade for me, I was using a 1.2GHz AMD Athlon and decided I needed more power. This more than provided it, the whole system has been transformed! Would definitely recommend to anyone who doesn't want to buy a new system, it's also very easy to fit. You can't really go wrong with this processor!
This chip is a good upgrade for my Duron 1200. Plugs straight into same motherboard in exactly the same manner. Windows XP happy, no changes to configuration. My Jetway Motherboard V266B recognised the cpu correctly as Athlon 2000+ but required rejumpering to set bus at 133MHz from the old 100MHz and multiplier from 12 x times to 12.5 x times. This makes the chip run at 1.663 Ghz.
These AMD chips are cheap and good value on Ebay. They give a similar experience to tinkering in used cars but far cheaper. This particular chip is more than adequate for most tasks. Like in all tech stuff the computer industry pushes products that have capabilities beyond most comsumers needs. .
