I've used Turions to upgrade from the Semprons many times with very positive results. This time I went from a TL-50 to the TL-56 when replacing the motherboard in a Compaq v3000 with equally positive results. What I like most about Turions is that they run cooler than the Semprons on average. By replacing the Sempron I typically achieve a reduction of 15-20C (up to ~70F). This in turn results in a cpu which runs much faster due to the lack of thermal breakdown as well as longer at full speed. Simply stated the Turion gets more done! The TL-56 is very fast for 1.8GHz without any hiccups. I recommend it highly. To see if your proposed upgrade is going to work you can compare them on CPU World. Go to www.cpu-world.com for all the information you'll need to check out almost any cpu on the market including legacy products. Enjoy!Read full review
I put this into a dell vostro 1000. Dell didn't make accessing the cpu easy, but I eventually got there. Luckily someone had posted a video on how to do it, or I would have been trial and errorring the installation for hours and probably would have lost half the screws in the process.

I bought this processor to replace a single core 1.6 Athalon processor in an eMachines E627 laptop. I had maxed out the ram already, but the unit was still pretty slow! Excellent increase in speed and performance! I am by no means a computer pro, and I actually took mine apart while watching a how to video on you tube. Less than $15.00 for the processor and thermal paste, and about an hour labor.. I have a lap top that I enjoy using again. I would recommend this to everyone that wants to revive their computer and have some fun when you're done!

For every one who needs a good replacement for a slow Sempron in a Asus A6000 machine this CPU is a good choise but take only the first series TMDTL56HAX5CT will work without problems. The next in 65nm technology makes problems.
