I had done some research before I bought this so had a good idea what I was buying. It is one of the more reasonably priced machines. The removable bowl is useful as it takes up less space in the freezer than some other models where you have to put the whole unit in. Also it only takes eight hours in the freezer to be ready to use rather than some which take 12. It is easy to operate (just an on and off switch). It is compact so doesn't take up too much space on my worktop. I have made two batches of ice cream so far and they have both been successful. The mix comes out like 'soft scoop' but firms up if you put it into the freezer for a while afterwards. The only criticism I would make is that if you are adding chocolate chips or suchlike, I had to remove the lid and paddle to add the chocolate chips as the first time I did it I added them while the paddle was still in the machine and it jammed. Also the instruction and recipe book that comes with it is more like a flimsy pamphlet with only basic instructions and very few recipes in it. However there are plenty of recipes to be found online. I also found it very useful to view various you tube videos that show the process step by step to demonstrate such things as tempering the eggs etc (if you add the hot milk all at once into the eggs mix it will 'scramble the eggs so it has to be added a little at a time which is called tempering). In all I have been very pleased with my Andrew James Ice Cream Maker and would recommend it.Read full review

Do not bother getting this machine as it's a bad-made product. It arrived completely damaged and I could not use it at all. The problem is the packaging. They packed the whole thing in a black plastic bin bag and did not use any outer carton to protect the ice cream maker. The ice cream maker has its carton but it's a very poor packaging, made with thin cardboard. The base of the ice cream maker seems to be okay in its solid form, however, the plastic lib is a big problem as one can see that the manufacturer used a very cheap and thin material and therefore, it breaks very easily, especially when the supplier did not carefully wrap it with bubbles or solid carton to protect them. Anyway, to return it to the supplier for a refund is also annoying as we have to take it to the post office to send it back. The whole thing is pretty heavy. For a woman like me, 70 years old, to carry such heavy stuff to the office is pretty tough. Very annoying! Read full review

...but paddle seemed a bit wobbly!? Worked fine. Bowl is a good nice, not too massive for freezer and froze well overnight. Made 2 different - one ice cream, one sorbet - both good. Would recommend. One bugbear: slot to pour mix through is a bit small.

This is a great little piece of kit at a great price. Comes apart , so easy to clean. Works really well with the commercial brand of ice cream mix I use. Don't know how long it will last but only time will tell. Word of warning, don't forget to pour the ice cream mixture into the machine after it has started rotating. I foolishly added the liquid to the bowl first and by the time I flicked the "on" switch, the mixture had already frozen solid to the inside of the bowl and the paddle couldn't rotate. Quite a clean up operation. 😅Really pleased with this machine.

Haven't had proper ice cream for 6 years due to lactose intolerance but after getting some money for my birthday decided to get an ice cream maker.... but which one?...always leaned towards magi mix products but after reading several reviews noticed the Andrew James lce cream maker was getting excellent feedback and the capacity (1.5 ltr) was the same, so took a chance and I'm very pleased I did, very easy to use and the results are always "excellent" as is the after sales service too! Thank you Andrew James.
