Lady O'Day shines. With only the bare accompaniment of 3 great jazz pianists, she demonstrates why she is a legend, using her soft honey voice to perform songs sliding from note to note and changing tempos with agility, perfect pitch, and telling a story. A few tracks are wonderful jazz piano instrumentals without Anita like Disney's Someday My Prince Will Come. I love her rendition of Whisper Not and You And The Night, and My Ship and Fly Me To The Moon became part of her later repertoire. O'Day and vibraphones were made for each other, this album showcasing her renditions with the fabulous vibraphonist/percussionist Cal Tjader with a Latin beat, romantic Under A Blanket of Blue, sexy Peel Me A Grape, Mr. Sandman as you've never heard it, and fun and sassy That's Your Red Wagon, all in all every toe-tapping track truly enjoyable to listen to. The entire CD is a joy and tribute to Anita O'Day's phenomenal career. Highly recommended.Read full review
