first tablet we thought was excellent, and amazing value for money, but developed a screen fault after 2 weeks. This was replaced by tesco on production of receipt. This one at present is still ok and has as many features as many more expensive tablets,so we are pretty pleased with this product.
I needed one of these after the reports I have read for traveling on long plane journey's the battery life is great.
Got this from Tesco for £49.99 from Christmas. What a great 8"inch tablet. It's fast. Antutu mark: 10086. Basemark: 43. With 2 cameras. It's the right size for kids. Kids have tried different size such as 10"inch and 7"inch. This 8" inch Archos Cobalt 80 is just right. Good size for reading and gaming. It's clearly the best budget iPad mini alternative. The not so good bits: Skype not fully working, very hard to find the right tablet case. I had to dig deep to find the closest one from China and I have to make some modification to fit all the cameras. Same for the screen protector. No blue tooth nor HDMI. Even @£115, it still can't be wrong. Update on 23/08/2013: Beware, there are actually two models of Acrhos 80 Cobalt. a) 3M pixels back camera and 2M front camera b) 2M pixels back camera and 0.3M front camera On Archos offical web site, the offical specs for the Archos 80 is 2M pixels back camera and 0.3 M front camera. The 3M pixels model are very hard to find, and you have to check with your ebay sellers (They can check it from camera settings). These Archos Cobalt 80 are specifically designed for Tesco exclusively.Read full review
I managed to get this after losing out on 5 others . its a nice size and makes surfing the net easy. battery life is good and the screen is clear and Sharpe if looking straight on ,at an angle the colour goes a bit funny like an older laptop ' the built in speakers are not very loud but for watching u-tube its great would be fantastic if it came with bluetooth but at the price I got this for who cares the screen can be a little slow sometimes when you touch it . I went for this one as I have a Archos 1 vision ( mainly music on it ) which has never let me down in 4 years
Excellent tablet, especially for the money, as long as you don't get mine. I was unfortunate enough to get a faulty unit with an erratic digitiser which is dead along one edge of the screen and occasionally goes temporarily insane and either ignores or misplaces all input. Chances are yours won't have this flaw in which case you get a great medium sized tablet with a reasonable, yet low contrast, sub-hd screen and a decent build quality and feel which feels better than the price would lead you to think. Performance is perfect for most tasks. GPU can keep pace with modern games and lag is hard to come by. Overall, great for the money but having a faulty unit has ruined it for me (especially since Archos has been particularly non-cooperative in sorting it out).
