This exploration of the artistic development of Beatrix Potter is a wonderful introduction to the Potter collection. The book focuses on her pictures and you will discover many new, unpublished early works by the author. The chapters are arranged both chronologically and in subject order, thus it is easy to find a particular area of interest. There is no detailed index included at the end of the book. Whilst I would classify this book as scholarly, the style is cosy and not highbrow and you will read many comments made by BP about her art and her stories. I bought this edition to accompany Linder's The History of the Writings of Beatrix Potter, I was not disappointed.
