Model Year: 2002
Mileage: 200,000 Miles
Engine Size (in ccm): 3,199
Power: 354 BHP
SLK 3,2 (3199cc)..AMG..the quickest version producing 354 bhp..and a top speed of 152mph (250kph).
It is claimed that 0-60 mph is achievable in 4,7 seconds. The AMG engines were handbuilt by a qualified German Engineer, and a signed plaque on the engine verifies this. The engine has an intercooled twin screw supercharger (Lysholm). This was MB's fastest production car up to 2003.
Production of these little beasts were between August 2000 and March 2004. There were only 263 imported to UK...I believe there are now less than 130 on the road. They are probably being retained by collectors..they dont come on to the market very often.
My car is high mileage..but you would not know. When I told my mechanic he did not believe this..the engine purrs..and the gearbox is sweet and responsive (sport mode is frightening...well I do frighten easy).
This beast has been nurtured. It has previous owners, the last gentlemen bought it in February 2005 (8 years ago) with 10,000 miles on the clock, so he did 190,000 in 8 years (about 24,000 pa)..he really enjoyed driving this car and he spent an absolute fortune keeping it this sweet..with 25 services with Mercedes Benz (Bury St Edmunds) and in the last few years with Stewart and Wibsey in Ely (Independant Mercedes Specialist). In February 2013 (5000 miles ago) the owner spent nearly £700 on service and suspension. In Aug 2012 (15000 miles ago) the owner spent £1319 on a new radiator and coolant system. In November 2010 the owner spent £1800 on engine refurbishment...you get the message. There are receipts for all this.
In 2012 a driver parked adjacent to our car left the handbrake off and her car damaged the NSF front wing, and the wing mirror. This was repaired and painted professionally at a cost of £1225. You cannot tell any work was done. There was no structural damage (we checked). I believe it is categorised, and this was probably cat C due to age of car and cost of MB parts. However we checked, we checked again, we drove it hard..and cannot see, hear or feel any legacy from the incident.
Inside the cab it is lovely. Unmarked black leather. A little dark walnut on the fascia. Leather wheel. Original radio Merc Audio 30 with CD player. I am not sure if the speakers are upgraded..it has a damn good sound.
The roof is amazing (I'm an engineer and I am amazed at the slickness of operation). You have the security of the tin top and the openess of a roadster at the push of a button.
The bodywork is superb..almost unmarked..a couple of tiny tiny marks from motorway driving...but looks lovely. The wheels are AMG 5 spoke and I've put new Avon tyres (speed rated).
Get this, I filled the tank (£42) with high octane (97) on the outskirts of London, drove to Aylesbury, and back to Yorkshire. In total 246 miles..thats almost 40 mpg. I had intended to do a steady 65 mph, but I couldnt resist hearing the growl from the 350bhp and a couple of times I exceeded 110 mph (naughty naughty)..anyway I am amazed. I think around town it will be more like 25 mpg.
It is unmolested...and surely a car that is only going up...an investment and A LOT OF FUN.
2 keys, service, books, receipts galore...

Find out where we are
BL Classics is a private collection. We acquire cars which we like and find interesting..and they can be Classics (pre-1992), Modern Classics (1992 to 2002), and modern cars (post 1992).
In order to be fair we value our cars based upon a defined standard (C&CS standard) and will grade our cars Condition 1 (immaculate), condition 2 (extremely good), condition 3 (average, road legal, and driveable) and condition 4 (a project). We may fluctuate on the band dependant upon the rarity of the vehicle. Conditions 3 and 4 will be displayed with known faults, and quite often a car will be promoted (or relegated) as vehicles are prepared or repaired.
Our margins are small and it is not commercially feasible to keep small margins and give warranties. Historically when a new customer has found a fault (within a short time frame) we will rectify or refund a customer (if condition is same as when sold, of course). On some of the modern cars we have arranged warranties..but I remain wary, they are insurance policies under another name, and unless you can read (and understand) small print they are not adviseable...for us a square deal makes more sense.
Why buy from us?
Terms & Conditions
Generally we buy our cars for cash and usually from a reliable source. We try to check out each acquisition and spend a lot of time researching specific faults on specific cars. Once we have acquired the vehicle we do a more detailed check and condition rate the car (see about us). If time permits we'll do the essential work to get the car to condition 1 and 2..however our open, honest service has made us busy, very busy and we are not getting a lot of time on project cars..they are being sold as condition 4 cars...and if you're interested to take a vehicle prior condition that will be considered (at a discount) provided we have educated you on the known status. Honesty and Clarity are our policies..we don't hard sell and we don't have dissatisfied customers.
