This was supplied from China. I had problems setting SPEED DIAL numbers because the country code for China was imbedded. After a trip to a friendly O2 shop in Merthyr the phone was changed to the UK code, problem solved. I find the keypad fiddly. The phone tries to predict what you want to type in and this slows down the process, but that's just me. I know people are attracted to Smartphones because of the various apps but they are all a bit of a compromise. The maps are slow to load and the screen is too small to see much detail. It's just a gimmick really. Also browsing the internet is frustrating after being used to a computer. Access to emails is useful and setting these up is straight forward. You need to charge the battery at the end of every day. Charge up time is about two hours. The camera is not good. Definition is very poor. If you're not used to Blackberrys it can take some time to get used to the menus and the various shortcuts. The phone feels good in the hand and looks good. The outside display is a good idea where you can see if you have any outstanding messages to view. Using this phone tells me that there is a strong case for manufacturers to look again at their Smartphone design policy. They are filling up the phones with apps which are no where near the state of the art but the strategy sells phones. I think the trend towards simplicity is the way to go. A phone is a phone is a phone!Read full review
I brought this product, because i like the stile and i also like blackberry phone. I am a big fan of flip phone, and when looking to buy a new phone, i came across this pearl flip 8220 it is a gook looking phone, easy to use, but i found that it is difficult to store numbers in the phone book as it is set for business? May be it is me. I still like it , i also find that the battery life is short and it needing to be charged almost every day. But the good thing for me is that no one else that i know have one of this phone.
I bought my Blackberry Pearl 8220 phone to try and keep up with the Grand children and proof that I still can surprise them. Two of the Granddaughters have Blackberry phones, the Grandson is happy with a very old phone; I think it may be he only talks and not text. I own another flip phone but decided that this one was the one for me, it’s very neat, the buttons are large enough for us oldies, and being a flip there is no chance of accidental misuse. The clock shows on the outside and is a nice talking point. One up for me! The only dislike is the same for all portable items and that is the battery life, so I guess until the Scientists come up with something better we must put up with it. In summery I think I made the right choice, I am delighted with it, and certainly would buy the same phone again. I surprised myself how quick it was to text using it; but not as quick as the Granddaughters!Read full review
Being a bit old fashioned,I like the way that Flip phones put the mike and the earphone in the right place for your mouth and ear,and once youve closed it I havent dialled anyone by accident oops. Also it self logs on to your home broadband, solving a poor mobile reception problem at home...Then of course theres all the email & google maps etc advantages of BLACKBERRY. Its a sturdy phone tho I havent tried dropping it yet.Not flashy but practical. All this for 77 quid SWEET..ruscoe1943@gmail.com
I wanted a phone to make telephone calls on, not a touch screen. Very few models around nowadays,so ordered the Pearl with some trepidation. I need not have worried, it does all the things I want really well. Easy to use, intuitive menus, once you have had a look around. I particularly like being able to change font type and size. clear screen, love the outer display with clock.I never got on with texting, but with this it is so simple. I have been playing around personalising it, what fun. Internet is possible, rather use my laptop! Email, well I have not been successful. I understand a Blackberry account required for that. Reasonable camera, with zoom. This phone is so easy to use, I would definitely buy it again. For the same money as other good (but less well specified)flip phones this is an excellent buy. It looks good, too. Best phone I have ever had.Read full review
