Bought this as my HomeHub2 had no Gigabit Ethernet port and wanted to install a GBit home network. Like the smaller package of the HH3 vs the HH2. V easy to set up. Only downside is loss of socket for 'Broadband Talk' phone but as BT's trying to get rid of that service anyway (and it was always a bit flaky) I can live with that. Gbit network superb and I now use wifi only when I don't want to be tied to an ethernet cable
Great but the power supply supplied was a 2 amp supply but it's meant to be used with a 1 amp supply so I used a PSU from a bt hub 4. The power socket was a bit wobbly and loose but doesn't make a difference because it doesn't move around. The speed is a bit slow compared to my ethernet but that is to be expected.

I purchased this Hub when I found that I wasn’t able to get Infinity due to my house being connected directly to the exchange and not via a green cabinet (Very sore point). I would have got it free from BT with that upgrade. The attraction is BT’s claim that it is able to avoid interference as well as offering b/g/n wireless which gives backward compatibility but high speed wireless. As far as I can tell this is true. I particularly like the compact size compared to the previous Hub 2 and it is rather sleek. One downside is that it only offers one Gigabit ethernet port but that can be used to connect a gigabit hub so is not really an issue. There are three standard 10/100 ports. Setup is a doddle as BT have inbuilt the connection facility (it only works with BT Internet). The web interface is quite easy to use although when I click advanced settings I object to being told that I really shouldn’t go there. One extra click gets you there! There are two input ports. One takes ADSL and the other will take Infinity if it ever becomes available (BT are apparently trying to find a work around for Exchange Only lines such as mine). The wireless code is printed on a removable tab and thus means that hooking up is simplified (I don’t favour WPS set up) as you can take the tab to the item you are looking to connect. Overall a great little router.Read full review
If you're searching for a solution to ADSL latency spiking when uploads take place, you want to be running OpenWRT with Smart Queue Management. This is one of the few ADSL modem routers supported by OpenWRT. Flashing new firmware is not for the faint hearted; it does require intervention with a soldering iron. Once running OpenWRT, I've found this to work really well and improve my broadband significantly, eliminating stupid latency spikes up to 3000ms Four stars because it could be more straightforward to load an alternative firmware if BT wanted it to be.

I bought this router for the Gigabit ports and faster(?) n wireless features. Sadly, the wireless was only marginly quicker, the gigabit ports only work at 100Mb and the download speed, after a months use, is 1Mb slower than my old 2Wire. Plus, there is little facility to tweak the router, unlike the 2Wire. So overall, on a long line like mine, not worth the effort but for anyone who just wants a cheap (£6.50 from e-bay) plug and play router on a decent line, ok.
You don't have to be bt customer to use old bt product I do recommend you get a number from your provider and don't use old bt number as bt can block your broad band mine on 24/7 with talk talk

My BT Home Hub 4.0 broke down after a year, not syncing, so I've gone back to the old Hub 3.0 I had been using previously for years. It seems more sturdier in build quality and is about 25% smaller than the long "radar" 4.0. Hub 3.0 is my choice for reliability.
