OK for the price, don't like the plastic wedge in the top but you can cut it off, sharp enough. The head was slightly wonky to one side but this may not be case with all.

The gloss finish handle is durable in theory but not safe without rubber gloves if theres any wetness about, just strip off and linseed instead. I put this axe through it's paces, and it's OK. Had to rehandle as it broke in the head within the first few days, but have to mention again it got an unreasonable amount of abuse. The axe head is a fairly good profile for splitting, fairly solid casting which will take a beating. If you are comfortable with rehandling I would go ahead or maybe try the plastic handle version? Much like nearly any axe this cost, needs some good work with sharpening.

Very poor finishing on the handle with runs of polyurethane that needed sanded down. The grip was slippery due to the poly finish and so I ended up stripping the entire handle down to the wood and another finish applied. The last thing I need is for an axe to go flying through the air because it slipped out my hand! So much for cosmetics - the real problem with this axe is the poor grind on it. I had to regrind the entire edge because it was not sharp and the cutting edge was off centre running diagonally from heel to toe. One side of the bevel was twice as steep as the other. In summary; if you want to strip and refinish the handle and regrind the edge then this is the tool for you. If not then buy a different axe 'cause this is a stinker. Shame on Bahco for allowing this piece of crap out the factory.Read full review

Very difficult to get sharp, it came very blunt. Dissappointing for Bahco tools but.... it wasn't expensive so you get what you pay for. Slight pock mark near blade edge. You need to file then use a puck and maybe p800 and a strop to get this even approaching semi sharp.

Good quality steel keeps sharp if used properly. It is a well balanced tool. I am using it mainly for rough carpentry and I am satisfied with it.
