I am a fan of the beautifully animated BALTO that was a favourite in my childhood, but sadly this is a sequel that has no wonder of the original. The characters have lost their loveable characteristics and believable animal qualities and become shells of what the former film gave. The animation is good in areas but nowhere near the quality of the original - in short it is a fairly charming story, but fails to come in any reach of BALTO. Mainly this is because the reality factor dissapeared; there was a mystery about Balto in the first film that captured hearts because it was based on a true story. WOLF QUEST swaps this for a tale of magical powers and even at one point a character is able to turn invisible. it is a whole seperate genre! I suggest that this film is watched only if you are truly desperate to see Balto again in action. There is also a third film i havent seen but have heard similar things. i would advise to be content with the originals endings magic as a standalone film!Read full review
If you have seen Balto 1, you will know that it was a great family film enjoyable for all ages, and if you have seen Balto 2, you will know that it is one of the worst sequels ever. Balto and Jenna have pups and one of them looks to much like a wolf and cannot find a home, so she runs away. Then Balto sets of to find her, even I dont really understand the ending. I have 3 young children, who all watch films like this, so I have to watch it with them. I liked the first Balto - it actually became a family favourite - and when I bought Balto 2, it was only watched about 3 times. I dont recommend others to purchase it but however, I must recommend you to purchase Balto 3.
This a great idea of a follow up to the original Balto film. It can be enjoyed by kids and adults as it can be enjoyed on different levels. There is a sort of spirituality in this film. Balto's father was said to be a Wolf and BAlto imagines him as a sort of Spirit of the wilderness and the freedom of life beyond the 'civilisation' of the town. The story does wander a little and the drama is not so intense as the third film in the Balto trilogy, 'Wings of Change' but it's essential and much above average for those who love Animal animations, dog stories, and stories of the wilderness and also the theme of, 'the search for the missing parent', 'the father I never knew.'
brought balto 2 as my daughter loves all animal films and also she has it on vhs and she is now into dvds so we are now buying all of her films on dvd as for the film itself i think its great also it was not a bad price
i originally liked the first balto movie so i thought id get the 2nd & 3rd films its a very good motion picture but didnt meet the same result as the original film - unfortunately the case is foriegn but still that doesnt matter all round a good buy - for the price.
