Bangkok Dangerous is not a film but it is flimsy, yes, flimsy - because it’s so shallow, the plot, the characters and everything in it. We have seen the same story in different settings, a hit man’s last job – falling in love – moral pangs – the last job going awry - well, this story is just a repetition. A hitman known as Joe arriving in Thailand to dispatch four of his targets and the last one, as you guess, is a good man. While he is progressing through the killings, he finds a protégé, a love, and a conscience. This is not the movie you are expecting from Nicholas Cage, at times, even he seems jaded with the film. The thin plot is a sinking ship from the beginning. Movies like The Mechanic (Charles Bronson) still shines far ahead of modern ventures like this. The Blu-ray is 1080i which is a not a good quality and the DVD looks better than this quality. So think again before buying this.Read full review
Having converted most of my old video collection to DVD I was thrilled to find this film gem in digital format. If you watch this in widescreen format, it really does the battle scene great justice; coupled with surround sound, you'll be gripped by the amazing cinematography. I would recommend the director's cut that includes scenes about the relationship between the lead character and his estranged wife and helps you to understand the motivation behind his decision. The run time is 183 minutes for the directors cut and 120 minutes for the cinema version. I was, however, disappointed by the lack of extras, which any fan of this classic would expect to be included. There's only a 20-minute interview with the director and other shot "making-of" vignettes.
The life of a modern day hitman, requires rules, Cage lives by 4 rules, slowly he breaks his own rules, as he becomes attached to the people surrounding, thus leading to an 'eventful' time. From Mr Nice guy in National tresure to hard as nails in this fast actioned film, Cage makes the transition seemlessly! Well worth a watch, but not one that you would return to time after time - unlike gone in 60 seconds, conair, national treasure etc!
i thought that this dvd was in excellent condition, i am really happy that i got this dvd case i am collecting nicolas cage films and i am nearly finished.
i know quite alot of people who dislike Nic Cage. and i would strongly have to disagree, quite obviously this is not one of his best movies but this guy truly has a wide range of acting talents the ammount of movies he does each year is astounding. i bought this as part of my collection of nic cage movies. i can honestly say i have never disliked any of his movies. this guy is truly talented at what he does i can't think of a single actor/actress that doe as much work as him.
