You have to get your head around the fact that this little bit of equipment is little over £20. This is insane! For 20 quid your expectations are rightly for something hopeless and little more than novelty. But no! I will grant you that this does not feel like a Yeasu or a Icom receiver. But it is perfectly satisfactory and does the job just fine. The switch-gear is a bit plasticky and maybe the LCD display lacks a certain "boldness" to be able to view well. But there is a menu, and in that menu there are many features tucked away. It even has a built-in FM radio which I was not expecting. It it only had airband as well, it would be a world-beater. Don't hold out too much hope for the manual - that's rubbish. And mine came in a jiff bag with all the various bits loose (bit unexpected). I bough this for my old man whose faithful Alinco 2m receiver is past its best. We compared the two side by side and the reception and sound quality between the two was not miles apart - the Baofeng being a little thinner but still perfectly audible. My old man has big fingers and poor eyesight so the twist dial with firm indent made it easy to switch through the frequencies without using a keypad. There are many things in life that are cheap and when you've bough them you think "what a waste of money".. In this case, for £20, you'll hopefully have a nice surprise. Don't think "top quality", that would be a lie. But value for money is incredible. I'm thinking of buying another one for myself now.Read full review
