I have enjoyed the music from San Francisco since the 1970s and in reading about it Bill Grahams name came up a number of times in magazines, band member biographies etc. It was interesting to read about the man who helped support so many bands, and who staged so much Rock music in venues on both coasts. The book starts his story as a child in Europe during the war, as an immigrant to America, and goes into his family and background that made him the motivated person he was. It continues through his initial move into music related work, onto his days running the Fillmore venues in San fransisco and New york. There are tales of his working with different bands including the good and bad experiences, and its a thoroughly interesting and entertaining read. If you grew up listening to Rock in the 1970/80 period and knew Bill Graham was a promoter then I would think it will take you on an enjoyable ride…..Read full review
