We found this product handy for short-range communication, but have only tested it up to 3 kilometres so far, and that was roughly in line of sight, with no large buildings in between. Reception drops out if you are in a built-up area, as you'd expect. Speech is clear and understandable, and the 'caller' tone function is useful for getting attention from the person you are calling. We found it ran much better on rechargeable batteries than on the cheap ones from £1 shops. Useful in the woods too, but only short-range, because trees absorb signals, too! All in all, a useful pair of radios for short-distance communication. They are light to carry, pretty tough, and seem to have good battery life between recharges. We use GP ReCyko batteries, and these have been excellent so far. Clear instructions with each set make setting-up quite easy, even for the non-technical.Read full review

I bought this product to stay in touch with my partner during excursions/shopping and fun! I like the small cute size, cammo livery, and price. Ok the working range is small also, but we dont stray so far apart when in use{3km range}. Sometimes its interesting to hear with good clarity other users coming through on the same channel while out and about, and as they can hear us also, by switching to another one of its 8 channels we can avoid this if one so wishes to. Features are simple to use and perform well. I can't say much about comparisons to other products, but its a great entry into 2/way radio opporation. Battery life is quite good, and it may be compatable with a charger dock judging by the 2 metal contact strips located on the base, though i hav'nt checked with the supplier so dont hold me to that. Got this for my 8 year olds Christmas. I bought the camouflage design. They have a great range, they can be playing at the other end of the street and get a signal - amazing. Good quality sturdy item, well worth the money. Very simple to operate, just need to add batteries and away you go. I'd recommend these to anyone.
