Wi-fi hotspot is what I bought the mobile for. The mobile is excellent, and allows the user control over a large variety of settings, including font size, personal ringtones, the caller display photo is slightly small for my liking. Although I have 2 annoying issues; I have failed to connect to the wi-fi hotspot, a yellow no entry symbol is displayed even though the phone correctly identifies my network; and I have also failed to syncronise with Windows Vista Basic (Calendar, Tasks etc), the desktop software fails to complete the task. There could be a simple explanation that would resolve these issues, and I will continue to try to find them; as I have no intention of paying more money for data packages. I have telephoned my mobile providers helpline, and they helpfully sent me several items of software to assist me in buying a data package, but did not assist me in connecting via a wi-fi hotspot. I have noticed several references to the wi-fi issue on the web, although I did not find a single reference to a resolution in these web discussions? Is it possible that nobody can resolve this issue? If so why buy a phone that has wi-fi?Read full review
very good for checking emails, sms and reply to sms, typing on the small key board is good and ease of use of capital letters by simply hold on the letter key. loading internet pages is reasonabley fast in spite of 2.5G by using opera mini(downloaded. The blackerry browser is not much good, which on my phone is designated as a hotspot browser. Wireless or wifi connection can at times disconnected for no apparent reason. Sound quality via headphone is good, but blackberry devise manager is not user friendly and when the phone does crash, its a lengthy process using the devise manager to resolve the problem, however all the data, settings stored in the phone internal memory will be loss. for the price i paid this smart phone is good, however one should consider the alternative e.g. the new generation of low cost android phone ie orange san fransico.Read full review
This was indeed a crappy phone. It cuts the conversations after about 20-40 sec. Rearily keeps signals where other phones indicate strong signal quality. It calls, by itself, the last one on the log randomly (very popular at night time). This is my 4th RIM model, and the last two models Storm 9530 and Curve 8320 had a life for days and hours. The first ones I had, Pearl and Pearl flip were great, but now I've given up. I'm now using a Samsung Jet 8000 - everthing works all the time, and have purchased an iPh 4. No more RIMs for me. Jo
