This amp is a little gem. It pretty much covers all angles from Bedroom practice to Studio, Rehearsal and Live Gigging. With many sound setups in venues using monitored sound systems the requirement for loud backline Amps is a thing of the past and gigging with one means basically not being able to play it at any volume above number 2. A small , but powerful amp with both the monitoring capability and the Emulated MIC capability to go straight into a Desk means that you can have the best of both worlds if needed. You can play it on stage a reasonable volume or you can play through the monitoring if needed. The channel switch and Cab / Speaker options mean you can setup the whole for bigger things if you want to carry the Cabs about with the option to plug in extension speakers galore. The Reverb is smooth, Roomy to Arena and the ISF gives you tonal variation that allows great contrast. If you want a negative... well the sockets on the back are all hidden under the edge of the back panel making them hard to find in the Dark and the foot switch cant be dropped into the back of the Amp for storage...but thats about it! small price to pay for a great piece of Kit.Read full review

Good sounding amp in both clean and overdrive mode. Reverb is pretty good too. lots of in & out options on the back but they are a bit tricky to access or see but useful all the same. My only real gripe is I bought a 5 watt valve amp thinking i could get a nice overdriven tone at low volume for home/bedroom use but i have to have the gain knob at about 1.5 and the volume at no more than 1 if i still want to remain married.....however I can use the headphones with the amp in standby mode ( this cuts out the 12" speaker) and really go for it with the overdrive and get some really great tones. So yest this amp is loud...louder than i expected for 5w I cant wait to take this somewhere where i can turn it up properly and drive the 12" speaker. I think in all fairness I should say that Blackstar have addressed this gripe by having an Attenuator switch/button on the latest Mk2 models which reduces the power to 1 Watt so you can drive this baby but at a lower volume. So untill i can afford to buy one i am happy to stick with the one i got.Read full review

Amazing little amp for the money. Has amazing valve sound through the 12 inch speaker and sounds equally as good through headphones. Also has MP3 line in, which a lot of valve practice amps don't have. Emulated output has a 1x12 or 4x12 cab output selector. Can also hook the amp to a cabinet and use it as a head. Well worth the money if your thinking about it.
