Bamford delves deeply into the world of eavesdropping. At first, the book seems too detailed, however, by giving us rounded descriptions of key players, it all becomes more real and easier to identify with. Rather than hype up "conspiracy" attitudes, James takes us on a tour which includes the good, the ugly and the embarrassing. There are an awful lot of pages to wade through but his writing style is engaging and consistent. As I've not yet finished it I can't comment on the final two chapters but I hope they will prove revealing.
