You are bidding on a vintage but NEW Brooks B130 unisex leather Saddle.

Saddle is hand-made in England in 1992 and since 1997 out of production.

Saddle cannot be bought anymore in any shop or on the internet.

The B130 is one of Brooks most heavily-sprung models, featuring double rear coil springs and a double loop front spring. Seating comfort is accounted for by the leather top, which has the same shape of the well known B66 model. The cover is a 2 piece leather construction, smooth on the sides where the thighs make contact and slightly coarser on top, embossed Brooks logo on the saddle sides and metal name plate at the rear. The frame is all steel, chrome on the lower portion and black on the upper. Superbly finished like only Brooks can and very comfort, ideal for city or recreational use.

When it comes to making your bicycle look great, nothing beats a good leather bicycle saddle. They are an accessory that looks amazing on virtually any type of bike, particularly road bicycles, vintage bikes and single speeds. They somehow adds a special element of class and style, and your whole bike will look more expensive and attractive depending on the type of saddle you have.

Leather road bicycle saddles tend to have a bad rap, however. They have a reputation for being uncomfortable, expensive and impractical for everyday usage. These are misconceptions which I hope to dispel with my saddles. The best leather bike saddles are in fact the best kind of seat you can ride on today, and they'll give you many years of comfortable usage if you care for them properly.

"Brooks has been making leather goods since 1866, when it was founded in Hockley, Birmingham. In the 1880s, the production of bicycle saddles began, the first saddle patent having been filed in 1882."

The fundamental design of a Brooks saddle is a leather top stretched between a metal "cantle plate" at the rear and a nose piece, to which it is attached with steel or copper rivets. Using a threaded bolt, the nose piece can be moved forward independently of the rails, tensioning the leather. It is important not to over-tension the leather or it may tear, especially at the rivets. Normally the nose bolt should not be adjusted unless the saddle becomes noticeably sagged, in which case it should only be adjusted in fractions of a turn until the top is comfortable again.

After a certain period of use, which can be from 100 miles to 1,000 miles depending on the leather used to make the top, the saddle visibly moulds itself to the rider and "dimples" appear where the "sit bones" normally rest. This is caused by fibres in the leather breaking down under the weight of the rider. The saddle is normally more comfortable by this stage, although some riders find that no break-in period is necessary for comfort and other riders never find a Brooks saddle comfortable, even after many thousands of miles.

Leather saddles are not waterproof (although this does mean they are able to absorb and dissipate sweat by "breathing"). Brooks produce a dressing, Proofide, which should be applied occasionally. The composition of Proofide is mainly tallow, the current blend also includes some citronella oil, identifiable by its sharp odour
