Current slide {CURRENT_SLIDE} of {TOTAL_SLIDES}- Best-selling in Wired Routers
One of the unsung heroes of recent routers, particularly if you stream music and/or want to extend the signal coverage area by adding extra units as wireless bridges (a 5 minute-job, well-explained in the manual). Rock solid performance with stock firmware, or upgrade with Tomato or DD-WRT if you want even better performance. Has built-in AOSS security system with no need for complex codes etc. (simply press the button on top of the router) or configure WEP, TKIP or AES. No support for WPA unfortunately. Good web interface configuration tool is standard. I'm running three of these routers (one access point feeding two bridges) with four wireless PCs and six Squeezebox network music players throughout the house, garage and garden with good to excellent signal strength everywhere and good throughput. Previous routers and combined router/ADSL modem products have simply overheated and dropped out when working hard (e.g. streaming high-res music), particularly router/modem combo. Doesn't support 802.11n but 802.11g is solid and doesn't seem to be a limiting factor in practice. Not "bleeding edge" technology now so available at good prices - grab yourself a bargain that will last a good few years. Use with any ADSL / cable modem of your choice (frequently free from your ISP). WHR-HP-G54 is the better high-power model, although WHR-G54S is OK if you don't need to cover such a wide area.Read full review
