Forever in the Peter Green blues era Fleetwood Mac's shadow. Nevertheless 40 Blue Fingers was a really earthy blues album softened by Christine Perfects (shortly to marry basist McVie of the Fleetwoods)sultry vocals. OK Ken is more of the same with brass. So much better on this collection without the orinal recordings inane and unfunny inter track meanderings. The 2 later albums are also good but veering a bit more to blues/rock with the heavier sound of the organ replacing Prefects piano. This is all good listening and Stan "the man" Webb is a real character both in his singing voice and guitar playing. A blues collector's gem.
I've been after one track by Chicken Shack for years - I'd Rather Go Blind sung by Christine Perfect. It's one of those magic tracks that I wouldn't be the slightest bit interested in, if it had been over-played on the radio. But it hasn't and it's.........magic. The rest of the album is great -A bit of a Peter Green Fleetwood Mac thing going on, but,of course without Peter Green. I just wish the track I bought the album for was twice as long.
