The figures are good for any Medieaval era as they're Normans . The British and French and Viking Scandanavians all had same helmets with nose visor guard and Kite Shields and chainmail. For a Diorama they would look good guarding a Fort they would look good in a Sherwood- Nottingham Castle against Robin Hood era setting. They could double up as Vikings . The helmets and chain mail look authentic . I accidentaly got some cotton wool glue attached to one of the figures chest . Then i thought it looked like a fur coat that a Viking would wear .As the Norman armour and kite shields and particularly helmets were continuously used from 9th to 13th cent Norway /Sweden/ Denmark and the Mediteranean Europe incl Sicily/ France . With a model knife one can re-position the figures and glue the shields so they're facing to receive any arrows. I think the Vikings had round shields . A bit of tweeking and the figures are adaptable to other conflicts like the Crusades. Bad points are that the Battle of Hastings was won by Norman Archers and Heavy Cavalry . None were in the box. Maybe they're in another series .Only Men in postures with swords and long shields that were not affixed. The shields would look better stuck to the front not the side as shield walls were a common battle tactic. The swords as stabbing prongs at the side of the shield as the Romans did in the wedge formation of < shielding and stabbing walls. Not a dissapointment-Adaptable Read full review
