If you were born during or just after the war and lived in East London, even though this story is set in Poplar, it will relate to the experiences that our parents and us had as children. It tells of the poverty and conditions of post war London with bomb sites and flats with no water facility, other than an outside water tap, shared toilets and all the things that we take for granted today. It will take you back in time, which many look on as the good old days, or were they. A good read by one who lived through it her experiences will amuse and shock you by her explicit telling of her work as a trainey midwife.
Love the series, brings back memories of my childhood living in Poplar so looking forward to reading the books.
