Easy to set up and the functions covered in the spec are all good. Quality of picture and sound are both good. Mine is connected to an Arcam 360 avr with complementary sound quality with other Arcam CD / HDCD player. I use SACD, HDCD, DVD-audio and all give good reproduction via stereo and 5.1 multi channel. Standard CD is also good. Can be slow in the time it takes from selection and play of function, due to switching components in the unit. Breaks in sound can occur is one lacks patience and do not wait for it to get into mode before pressing play Bluray and DVD all good through HDMI, and nice picture/sound quality. Not the most up to date machine, but then the second hand price is good and easily compensates for that, until Super HD becomes more main stream and affordable

Superlative performance, especially sonically on both BluRay and DVD. This player & its successor have a fine reputation and it is well justified. British built like a tank, it is reassuringly solid but this just enables a more solid foundation to the overall performance; at times so subtle, at others with a fist of iron. True, this machine costs twice as much second hand as some highly rated plastic products do brand new so its up to the buyer. Sheer class and reliable long life or short shelf life with all the currently fashionable but ultimately trivial gizmos. No contest to anyone who is actually used to high-end equipment & performance. A bargain and worth every penny of its original price.
