I love Yamaha basses and the TRB 1005 is my 4th. I like the feel and the variety of tonal possibilities, but to me it lacks the one thing that every bass should have. That is the bottom end. One of my other Yamahas is the BBN5a. The bottom end is earth shattering and from there you can build some very solid tone with treble and mid-range without sacrificing bottom. I fact of the other Yamahas I have (BBGS5 and the RBX375) the TRB 1005 in terms of low end is the weakiest. It's cool but I just think the bass should be about the bass first and foremost.
Straight out of the box, this bass is lethal. I'm always considering mods, upgrades, etc, but there is nothing about this bass I would change. Killer tone, great balance, and great craftsmanship. Everything you'd hope for in a bass

The TRB 1005's have always ben good basses this is my second still don't understand why I sold my first. After a proper set up this thing is amazing to play with a very nice growl very close to my Tune 5. This one I will hold on to.
its the best, most comfortable and versatile bass ever played, tried once in Sam Ash NY store and fell in love with. now find superb offer. thanx for great instrument.
