There are two books I always buy... when I change my car, I get a Haynes manual for it, and when I change my camera I get a Hove manual for it. The Hove manuals seem to be written by people who know cameras inside out. As well as full instructions on how to use the camera, there are tips on how to access the 'hidden' features of the camera. The Hove books also list the compatible lenses, which saves a lot of time. I can't think of any bad points about Hove books.
