It took me a while to get used to all the added extras the printer provides but its comprehensive and up to date with the latest technology....so that's a plus. My reason for buying was - that not only would it print, scan and copy but it could print on card stock with ease........I have increased the card weight and now up to 260gms at present with no paper jams. I hope to achieve the maximum soon. The colour is extremely good! I am very pleased. Other reports state the machine is noisy, but its not a big deal and I haven't been put off by this. I would recommend this machine to both home and small office. I am only at the foothills of my journey with this printer, but I have no complaints and hope this printer will withstand all my printing needs. Perfect glitch free journey so far............Read full review

Didn't come with any instructions, wasn't easy or clear on how to load in the ink cartridge (which are really expensive by the way) and that was after purchasing the wrong size originally. The printer head wasn't aligned and despite following instructions on how to fix that, it did nothing. The printing quality wasn't that great either but I feel I can't comment so much on this aspect after having 0 success with a successful print. Still don't know how to use the copy or scan mechanisms, After several attempts of trying to print the same PDF file to no avail, I gave up.

There are many who will claim that there are better printers out there. But this one is hard to beat for running costs, with individual refillable ink tanks and a fairly comprehensive software package. Although a bit slow, the bluetooth facility is very handy if using this printer in a combined setup and you're not able to move the printer around quickly. The usb PictBridge facility is very handy too. Mind you, this is a big and reasonably heavy printer with an excellent scanner. Although once again there are better dedicated scanners out there with impressive optical resolutions, this one complements the 1 pico droplet ability of the print engine once set up correctly. I have two of these and never suffered any trouble with either. Having said that, this scanner's optics can't quite match the raw optical resolution of the old SCSI interfaced HP 5p! My only reservation is thet there isn't a built in fax-modem to make this combo hard to beat even by today's offerings.Read full review
The MP610 is a really good all round printer scanner. Try the scanner on it's highest setting and you will be surprised at the good quality. Now to get onto the ink, the black inks are pigmented and I have found it a good idea to gently rock the cartridge by the inversion method, this will help the pigments to mix with the solution. It is also a good idea to do this at reasonably frequent periods. The most important thing to be aware of is to NEVER let the ink run too low because if the ink doesn't flow properly to the printhead it could lead to a burnt nozzle and this could have happened if the black doesn't print properly. So it is a good practice to do a regular nozzle print check, any signs of a poor result with this nozzle check and you should check the ink levels and then do a nozzle clean if the ink levels are ok. If you are in doubt, it is better to replace the possible low or faulty cartridge after rocking the cartridge to mix the ink solution well. The non Cannon cartridges are not expensive and it is good to read reviews of the many suppliers for this really good printer. Happy printing.Read full review

Regretfully, long out of production, and not easy to recover from the 'used' market,, this machine is perfect for my needs of written work and photo reproduction.
