This set contains pretty much everything a Carpenters fan could want. Has several early (pre-fame) tracks that I had never heard before, all the standard hits, and some great tracks that were not released as singles (ie., "A Song for You", "Let me be the One", "Maybe its You"). Nice to hear the LP version of "Top of the World", which in some ways I actually prefer to the single version. Great all around box set.

Nothing in here not to like, the finest collection of Richard and Karen Carpenters finest material from the earliest days in 1965 to the Final song recorded in 1982. A Must of a collection for fans of great music
Although this says 'Essential' it's ultimately aimed at Carpenter's freaks like myself. It's basically a straight re-issue of 1991's 'From the Top' and as such full of alternate mixes, rare demos, radio spots etc. If you're looking for a 'Greatest Hits' package look elsewhere. Having said that this is top quality stuff and the hits are fully represented. I'll give it five!
