Great memoir by Tom about the Inspiral Carpets, they were a great band and Tom runs through their story complete with ups and downs, nothing to heavy. An easy book to read and I would recommend it to any fans of the band.

Inspiral Carpets were different from the other Manchester bands of the time for various reasons, they were quirky, accessible, realesed material regularly and weren't completely enfused in laddish drug culture. Their singer was different to, he sang properly and conveyed an intelligence that went against the stereotype of the time. If your a fan of the band, as I am, you will find this a great read especially as Tom reveals the time the band had on the road, the thinking behind songs, the band slipping a part when they seemed to be at a creative peak as well as an I sight into Tom's personal life. Cameos from Noel Gallagher and Mark E Smith all add to the mix of what i would say is a very interesting read. Tom clearly has a grasp for literature and writing and draws inspiration from many classic background material. Some of his analogies are of vintage stock and dry the dry and at times honest delivery only add to the quality.Read full review
