The Carrera Sol 24 is an excellent spec bike with full suspension and cable disc brakes front and rear. It is fairly lightweight with an aluminium frame with oversize integrated headset and excellent top tube routed cables to keep them out of the dirt. The only downside are the stupid Gripshift gears that most bike manufacturers seem to like too fit to childrens' bikes but are usually too stiff for kids to operate. I changed them for SRAM thumb shifters.
We bought this for our 5 years old daughter. She finds very easy to ride on and most important, she can lift it with ease. Perfect light weight aluminium frame, little bit simple on colours, which was quite difficult for me to explain to her, so I had to buy basket for dolly and some stickers. Buy with confidence. Best kids bike on the market so far. Not as heavy as other kids bikes.
We purchased two of these for our daughters, after checking the specifications and particularly weights, and the research paid off well. The Luna 16 has been a great success with both girls, even from the early days with low saddle and no pedals, walking/ scooting it along. The saddle is now quite high, giving them more stability to ride properly and more knee-room and control. The wheels, brakes and saddle are all just right, and they have made great improvement in their riding. The low weight is very important - when you are 6 years old, a couple of kilos saved turns a struggle into a doddle. We have just purchased a pair of Luna 20" bikes, ready to wrap for Christmas. A great choice for kids.
