In this episode of the quintessentially British comedy series, the gang are on safari. They're on the hunt for the rare Oozulum bird, but instead come across all other types of wildlife. Parodies of Tarzan and other jungle films continue the fine Carry On tradition as Frankie Howerd, Sid James and the other regulars ham it up for all they're worth! Classic Carry On capers mixed with tongue in cheek lightning speed comedy for all the family. Perfect. Side-Splitting Humour! Highly Recommended.
Carry On Up The Jungle should be viewed through the prism of the times in which it was made. The film could not be made today, without a public outcry at least-race relations have come a long way since 1970! So beware, racial stereoptypes abound and so too do white men 'blacking up' As mentioned earlier if you allow for the times you can see it as a time capsule of what we found acceptable back then. The regular cast is back for more saucy postcard style humour. The film is an average entry in the series with a daft plot, but there are a still a few good laughs to be had along the way -a must for series completists though.
I love all the carry on films, they appeal to my sense of humour. It was a reasonable price too! Also being on dvd was great as it added to my collection.
Having had most of the Carry On DVD set for some time now I decided to try and find the remainder on Ebay and this one secured my completion of the Carry On set!
