Being a fan of Leslie Phillips I was immediately interested in Casanova "73. However, this is a TV sitcom which is definitely of its time and I doubt there are any broadcasters out there brave enough to show this now for fear of potentially offending 0.002% of the population. It is essentially a comfy, middle-class sitcom set in 1970's suburbia but the twist is that Leslie, somewhat playing to stereotype, is happily married but with an eye for "the ladies", makes constant reference to being "randy" and likes a drink or 3. I enjoyed this for the performances and the time travel back to a different world. Written by Galton and Simpson but this does not have the skill, charm or longevity of "Hancock's Half Hour" or "Steptoe and Son". This is spread over 2 discs, with 6 episodes of approximately 30 minutes each, includes brief interview with Leslie Phillips in the extras section.Read full review
