Well i have to say that Chicago 17 is brilliant. I only just recieved a couple of weeks ago but i was very impressed with it. 17 contains some very catchy tunes and i will be very surprised if you can keep yourself from singing along with them. I love this album because i love the 80's music. You know the uptempo stuff that doesn't take time to think about either singing or getting up to dance to it. The first track "stay the night" is remarkably catchy. Sounds like something most blokes ask a woman nowadays. The second track "We can stop the hurtin'" is very good. I like how the lyrics talk about the world today and they we have to power to do something about it. "What is happening to our town there's people sleeping on the ground, cold and lost they fear the night, left alone they'll lose the fight. Hadn't we better reach for more than just a dime, shouldn't we try to talk that boy out of it's crime. It's a point making song that we should listen and heed.I also like that i found out from the sleeve that donny osmond and richard marx did the backing vocals for that one. Easy to sing to. The next one is a classic and definitely a pure tearjerker "Hard habit to break" I'm sure that the lyrics speak to those who have lost someone and the pain that you endure afterwards. Only you was a surprisingly uplifting song that should have been featured in a great 80's movie. Now "remember the feeling" i argee should have been a single. It was way too good to be just put on the album and should have become another classic Chicago tearjerker. Cetera's voice was perfect for it. Along comes a woman has now become a personal fav of mine. Easy to sing along with and dance to. Although this version is a bit slow for me, i prefer the version that was featured on the Chicago story album. The beat and pace is much faster. You're the inspiration is pure gold. great to hear and sing along with (if you can rerach the high notes that is) Please hold on is another punchy uptempo song. i love how the horn shine through the other instruments. Prima Donna was featured in the John Travolta/Olivia newton john movie called Two of a kind. This was supposed to be their comeback movie after Grease but it bombed at the box office. Bad luck John and Olivia and bad luck Chicago bacause Prima Donna should have become a dance classic. Once in a lifetime brings the album to it's enjoyable climax. Too bad Peter left after this album. He had a brilliant voice and too bad his solo career wasn't that successful. (Do you see any peter cetera album in the shops nowadays..?)Read full review
What can I say about Chicago, they rock and they're one of the most popular rock bands in America. I'm real proud to be a big fna of theirs.
