I was introduced to this album when first released by a close friend and have now renewed acquaintance in CD form. This was the Chris Rea album after Road to Hell and he was never going to repeat the outstanding concept songwriting of that easily. This album came close. It is as reflective as 'Daytona' or 'Tell me there's a heaven', and takes his laid back atmosphere to a new level. The opening track 'Auberge' has a quirky opening but soon settles into a classic Chris Rea song and from then on one is transported into a fantasy world of lazy summer days in the sun. Great.
