Conflicts Politics Construction Privacy Obsession: Materialien zur Arbeit von Christian Kerez by deSingel, International arts campus, Antwerpen (Paperback, 2008)
For Swiss architect Christian Kerez (*1962 in Maracaibo, Venezuela), a building project is a way to explore the essential qualities of architecture as well as what it is capable of. Accordingly, the title of his first sizable publication refers to processes, facts, and phenomena that usually remain hidden in constructed, mediatized architecture.Using current projects as examples-the Forsterstrasse apartment building (Zurich, 2003), the HmeW duplex (Zurich, 2007), the Leutschenbach School (Zurich, 2008), and the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw (2012)-plans, sketches, correspondence, newspaper reviews, and film stills demonstrate how architecture can be recontextualized, interpreted, and presented. Christian Kerez has had his own architectural office in Zurich since 1995, where he has also been a professor at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) since 2001. Exhibition schedule: deSingel, International arts campus, Antwerp, September 18-November 2, 2008 * aut. architektur und tirol, Innsbruck, fall 2009
