I was looking for a unisex pattern for Christmas Stcokings worked in cross stitch. The book contains patterns for 4 stockings. A penguin design is the simplest, holly leaf design slightly more complicated with Santa design requring more counting. A teddybear, with other toys and parcels, design requires some real experience of working counted cross stitch. All designs have comprehensive instructions and easy to follow charts. The designa can be used on different thread counts and guides are given but are best worked on 14 count aida.
An excellent cross stitch book, there are designs to suit all levels of stitching ability. There are designs suitable for children & adults. The charts are a good size to view & work from. The designs don't go over the top with too many different threads. This is very helpful when it comes to costs. I like making something different for friends & family, but don't want them to cost a fortune. If you wanted to, there is scope on the designs to personalise them. The book gives you plenty of tips for working each design, completion tips & information on aida counts if you want to enlarge or reduce the size of the finished stocking. At £2.99 the book is excellent value for money, 4 very pretty designs. In many craft stores you couldn't get one pattern for that money. I would be quite happy to make them all.Read full review
