As you might expect, I bought the cd on the strength of the film in which the music plays a prominent part. And music here means banjos, fiddles, mandolins. It means spooky melancholy in Wayfaring Stranger sung by Jack White. Elsewhere it means goodtime reels and stomps. At times it means Alison Kraus's floating soprano. There is a fair measure of cinema orchestral filler which is a shame, but one good song negates all that. If you're into oldtime, you'll enjoy this. The artists clearly did.
Fascinating folk music from the soundtrack of this great film. Even better than the fiddlers and banjo-pluckers are the Sacred Harp singers.
Good quality music.CD not scratched.Very Nice american folk music,I like it so much....................................... ....................................
The CD is very useful as you can hear the whole of the song, rather than the snatches as used on the soundtrack. I like Appelachian music and this CD is a good example. I would recommend it to all those who like US folk music.
