Motor seems to be a bit under powered. It chops everything...mostly. With things like onions and peppers you have to pre cut them into small enough chunks to fit in the jar and even then, you wind up with the occasional large chunk of something. With food processors you have to line up the jar part and the lid/cover in a certain way for it to work. I understand that it is a safety thing but they could have made it simpler to line up everything by putting some sort of arrow or color coded pointer to make it easier. It works ok, I mean, this thing is for very small chopping tasks like processing baby food and such but I think that a little more attention to detail would have made this a better product. I think they tried to take care of these details with the newer model but from what I can see (not owning one) the way those are set up, they have a different set of problems/issues. Probably boils down to preferences. Am sure they work fine. Read full review

I'm not sure that the bowl assembly is the one intended for this machine. I can hardly get it into place. It takes a LOT of strength to push it into engagement. I have a another DLC-10 that has a much larger bowl and is easy to manipulate. I bought this one because I love my other one so much. Not so with this model.

My wife loves her 30+ year old Cuisinart! It's supposed to be made of durable polycarbonate (what bullet-proof 'glass' is made from), but it does degrade over time. It still develops cracks and latches are thin so they are eventually broken off. Thankfully, these parts are still available as used items so you don't have to purchase an entire new unit. So is it durable? Sort of. Is it well designed? Sort of. Thicker sections may have provided a longer life. Is it easy to clean? Sort of. The manual says it's dishwasher safe, but I believe the heat of the dishwasher is detrimental to this particular plastic. Hand washing might be less destructive to the plastic than the dishwasher, but a busy person in the kitchen is going to have trouble completely cleaning and sanitizing this by hand.Read full review

It is brand new and the motor is strong and obviously very well made from sound and ease of grinding even heavy seeds. I guess later they made the lid have a whole in it so you could put things in without taking the whole thing off. No hole in this older machine.

They just don’t make them as powerful anymore this unit is about 30 years old!
