Nice to watch the full version of this film. The original had many censor inflicted cuts in 1961. Today it's hard to believe that that these outtakes caused much grief., But that was 1961 and things were much different then. One of Hammer films shot at there Bray studios and one of the best. The great Oliver Reed is the Werewolf making his debut in the role. The thing here in this film is the character build up. This makes you feel sympathy for the Werewolf. The film is slow compared to many films now but that helps to take time in developing the story. This still keeps you interested throughout the film and paces the action to the conclusion. Oliver reportedly in the lunch break visited a local pub in Bray in the full Werewolf makeup. I would have liked to have been there to see that. So if you like the Hammer films of the past, then this is one of the better efforts and the Blu Ray transfer is sharp with great colour and excellent mono sound. Recommended..Read full review

Oliver Reed at his best. Another good film from Hammer. The ending is probably influenced from the Bela Lugosi film Murders In The Rue Morgue. The extras are very good also.
