You strap yourself in. You strap your kids and other loved ones.... so why not your dogs? We brought an Ezydog harness which came with a seat belt attachment from Pets At Home and we kept forgetting to use the seat belt attachment as it was always either in the wife's car or hanging up where the harness normally lives. It was easy to dismiss as the wife would normally hold the dog during travelling. So as a family, we decided to get another seat belt attachment only - so we can keep one in each car so we had no excuses on ever forgetting again. It's made the world of difference! Ernie (the dog) lays down now still, not jumping around with excitement about looking out of windows or jumping over passengers (or the driver). And I'm reassured that "if" anything ever happened, my dog isn't going through the window or even falling off the seat - even if I'm simply braking a little hard, my little boy is safe. As the driver I'm not longer distracted by his antics or trying to keep an eye on him either to see if he's sitting to help prevent him falling off the seat with any sudden braking. The harness is a great combo too - as this prevents choking my little boy, as the harness supports the entire body & is well padded. The Ezydog seat belt attachment is well made - the same material as what seat belts are made so really strong and really easy to use - which is why I opted to buy the same Ezydog seat belt attachment that we already had & used before. Gives the dog enough freedom to look sit up / lay down, but restrictive enough to keep them safe while in the car. Simply put - love your dog? Then keep them safe... after all, they're family too.Read full review

This item did not allow sufficient vertical movement when looped over the lap and shoulder parts of the seatbelt as intended. These are obviously wider apart as you move the restraint upwards from the belt clip and the belt tension makes this difficult. This means that a dog would find it difficult to stand up to move position, which would clearly be worse for a large dog. It is probably fine for a small dog, so I wouldn't discourage anyone from buying one, but it is something to consider. The answer would be for the loop to be openable, so that it could be secured around the shoulder belt only, giving unrestricted movement for the dog. This would inevitably make it more expensive, but more usable.

Nicely made, but the sleeve for the seat belt to slot thru should be larger to allow the belt to sit properly so that it can retract in an impact. This would also allow a smaller dog to stand up as well as having to lie down. I would be more confident of it in an accident if the clip were larger and stronger.

I found the EzyDog Car Seat Belt Attachment (for Harness) very good quality and well made but the only problem was when the seat belt in the car retracted it forced the EzyDog Car Seat Belt Attachment down to the car seat belt buckle . This meant the dog was uncomfortable and the dog ended up laying over the hand brake leaver and in the way when I was changing gear .
