Still a bit undecided about this Animal Dyson. Not sure having received it why it's any different from any other ball Dyson. There is one attachment with no explanation or name. The instruction information is lamentably poor. Nothing in writing - only diagrams. Have tried and given up trying to use the cleaner with the brush down on carpet - it makes it very heavy to move across the carpet and doesn't begin to pick up cat hair - really poor. With the brushes up, it is extremely effective and it's more convenient to be able to whizz between carpet and hard flooring in my partially open plan home. Even though I have the larger purple Dyson, the waste container is really quite small - particularly given that it needs to be emptied when only part full. And it never fills evenly - the fluff gets stuck on one side. And when you open it, unless you shake the container vigorously, the waste doesn't come out - so you either get a dust cloud or have to pull the fluff out. Either way it's messy I now use a nappy sack to empty into as it fits quite well over the end. Trying to use the hose for close up work, such as for upholstery, makes a great resistance exercise for building arm muscles. Maybe it's because the machine is new, but the hose is very stiff and pulls back all the time. End up pulling on the hose with one hand, so the hand holding the nozzle can actually go where you want it rather than being catapulted back towards the machine like a challenge on It's a Knockout. But, even with all those criticisms, it does do a really good job of sucking up the dust and pet hair - much more so than my other machine (which I'm now keeping to use for its hose as it doesn't fight back!). But it could be much much better. Not particularly impressed with the ball as the brush is pretty wide so can't get into the little places I want it to anyway. Two more winges - the worst cleaner I've had for not going up to the edge - leaves a wide margin you have to do by hand with a nozzle - and hate the mechanism for unlocking from the upright position - have actually trapped my toes in it twice. Maybe I'm not doing it correctly but as there aren't any detailed instructions to check with, I shall remain ignorant on this and learn to move my foot away faster. Does it get rid of dirt, dust and pet hair? Absolutely. Is it user friendly? Could do better. Would I recommend it to someone? Possibly not unless they wanted to save on their gym subscription (it's quite heavy too). If I had the choice, would I buy it again? Really not sure yet.Read full review
My old Dyson had broken down eventually after having it many years so i wanted to buy Dyson again as it's a great brand, so chose the DC25. It's a little more technical than your average hoover but i sussed it out quite easily, and was quite impressed. The only down fall to this hoover would be it's a bit difficult to use on my stairs, it stretches all the way up with a bit of strength but it's lightweight enough to hold while hoovering the stairs if you're a typical woman and good at multi tasking. If i had a choice of having this hoover or any other hoover, i'd have this one. I'm keen on this one as it is one of the latest models, it has great suction, easy to handle with the intelligent ball, and looks a bit cooler than other hoovers.
I bought this Dyson vacuum for my dad. He is 73. My dad has had a Dyson for about 15 years, one of the first Dysons available I think. He realised that it wasn't picking up as well so decided to buy a newer version. My dad wanted a model which if possible, didn't have such a large brush head so he would be able to vacuum under the sofa etc and, he liked the idea of the Animal series as he has a labrador which is always moulting. We went to one of the big retailers and had a look at several models and he decided on the DC25 Animal. This model is smaller than the standard Animal vacuum, the head is much lower enabling under sofa cleaning. The bin is much smaller than the larger models but as my dad only lives with his dog in a bungalow thats not too much of a problem for him. The biggest advantage is the large ball. This makes it very easy to manoeuvre around the floor, a huge benefit to anyone not just an older person. The filters are washable and they work well on animal hairs. As always there are plenty of extra tools and spares available if needed. My dad was very impressed and horrified, at the amount of dirt and hairs the DC25 picked up :). He had to empty the bin three times the first time he used the DC25 but, as I explained before, his old Dyson was rather ancient!Read full review
I had my previous Dyson DC04 for many years. I used it when renovating two houses and although it was often full of plaster and saw dust, it never let me down. So, when my wife wanted a new one, I got the Dyson DC25. I was very happy with the price and delivery was quick. The cleaner is excellent - picks up everything, easy to use, easy to empty. Lighter than the DC04, it can be easily carried up and down stairs. The only slight problem is the shorter length of the hose, but I have got used to that now. It was a really good buy.
When I went to pick up this dyson, I decided to buy the smaller model (DC24)instead. Originally, because our house is large i thought i would buy the larger DC25. It became apparent that the smaller model was easier to maneuver and had all of the power that I required. I have been using it for a while now and am extremely happy with it. It is very lightweight and it takes the chore out of going upstairs. The suction is excellent and is easily switched between carpet and hard floors. I bought the animal attachment for it and cleaned my car last week with ease. Good on the stairs also. I have two dogs and a cat and this dyson easily picks up their hair. The hose and flex are not terribly long but adequate. It stores in a small space.
