I was sceptical of the low power motor (1000watts maximum under fairly recent EU energy directive). The good news is Dyson have designed the internal architecture to minimise energy loss. I bought it second hand (in good condition) so didn't know if it was A1 or not. My sister used it and thought the wand suction was poor even though I had recently cleaned the cyclone chamber. The is a COV (changeover) hose which uses a spring linkage to position itself to either connect to wand or brush bar depending on handle position. This had failed (takes a bit of examination to see). I fitted a new genuine part and genuine Dyson filters and it is better than ever. Upshot is, yes, it works well though comparable to DC01 rather than turbojet noisy DC07.

The cleaner is very easy to manoeuvre due to its size & weight, It appears to clean better than my previous DC18, but it is a lot noisier
