Hi I tried one of those bigger silver square type machines and physically couldn't use it and spewed water out everywhere. Sent for this machine and I can use it - yippee. It's easy to use and I make great cappuccinos with the milk frother. I've still to learn all the settings and correct programming, but I can now wake up/come home to a lovely milky coffee. It doesn't take long to heat up to working temperature, and I now usually make the frothed milk before the coffee - following the instructions on how to cool the boiler by 'letting off steam' first. I will have to re-grind most of my stocked coffees to a finer 'expresso' consistency but I have a Quisinart burr grinder so that won't be a problem. Looks great on the bench & takes little room. Easy to fill with water; milk frother is easy to get the hang of (looked at U-tube reels to see how to correctly make the bubbly milk using lactose free full fat milk). I have invested in a stainless steel 51cm tamper, rather than the plastic one provided. This is easier for me to use to compress the coffee grounds into the holder - resting it on a silicone mat whilst doing so. It does move about when you are trying to tighten the coffee holder into position, but one learns how to hold it steady, without accidently pressing buttons, until tightened in place. The choice of 3 coffee holders is great, but they sometimes stick in the machine (just have to re-position the holder and they drop out). I'm enjoying owning this so would recommend.Read full review

Really like the measured doses of expresso. No need to watch how fast it comes through and try to stop at the right point. The machine seems to get much more flavour from the same coffee so I've swapped from double to single expressos in my latte, which will save a lot of coffee and £ over time. The steamer is slightly too bubbly and could do with a longer wand but if you keep it deeply buried in the milk it's fine. It only runs for a minute before stopping and flashing the coffee buttons which I think means it's got too hot. But if you stop for 5 or 10 seconds it seems to work again. The orange light reminder to descale is handy as I think most coffee machines die this way (element overheats and burns out - at least ours did). However I'll probably set it to expect soft water and just descale every 2 months. The build quality seems much better than the icona and micalite that I used before and the narrow footprint is super. Works well sideways at the end of the counter. The handle goes on more smoothly and overall looks much more professional. I have the stainless steel model which looks fab even though most of it is coated plastic rather than solid metal. The thermoblock boiler seems to deliver water in little bursts so the chuntering noise takes some getting used to, but it's still quieter and non-rattly compared with the icona and micalite.Read full review

This Delonghi coffee maker is easy to use and to clean. It brews very nice tasting coffee (better than filter jug, when using same ground coffee). It's space-saving design fits well in kitchen as it is only 15cm wide, when milk nozzle is folded in. It is quite noisy, especially the milk heating steam function, which could be an issue if someone were still sleeping! All in all, I would highly recommend.

I upgraded from a basic DeLonghi espresso machine which usually made good coffee but had its limitations. This always makes good coffee. It only produces a very small espresso but it can be set to deliver the volume that you want. Changing the settings is easy once you get the hang of it. You can change temperature, stand by time, water hardness (for descaling alarm) and volume delivered. Of course you can manually deliver the amount you want. This is the fourth espresso machine I have used and it is by far the best.

This is a great coffee maker, it is so easy to use with pods but you can also use ground coffee with it, and I have used both. Simple to program for preferred water temperature, water hardness, and an adjustable auto time off facility. My only quibble is it can be a tad noisy when using, but I can put up with that for a good cup of coffee.
